The California Democratic Party has recently settled lawsuits filed
by a leader who used to work in the organization. There were three
lawsuits filed, all naming Eric Bauman as an aggressor in incidents
involving sexual harassment, unwanted physical contact and other
unacceptable situations. The discrimination, harassment and
retaliation lawsuits were recently settled, one of which was settled
for a sum of $1 million.

Bauman resigned his post in the organization in 2018 after an
investigation revealed wrongdoing and various types of inappropriate
behavior instigated by Bauman. Ten different people came forward
claiming that he touched them in a sexual manner or made sexually
offensive comments in professional settings. The plaintiffs claimed
that the political party did not do enough to protect them against
   these types of incidents.

Any type of sexual harassment in the workplace is unacceptable.
Unfortunately, employees are often reluctant to speak out because
they fear retaliation or that others will not believe their claims.
These lawsuit settlements serve as positive examples of how those
who suffered this type of treatment can fight for justice and
restitution through the civil justice system.

It is possible to hold liable parties and organizations accountable
for discrimination, harassment and retaliation in a professional
setting. California employees who experience physical or verbal
harassment of any kind do not have to suffer in silence or simply
hope that things get better on their own. Victims may seek legal
guidance regarding the best way to proceed, which may include moving
forward with a claim against the employer and other liable parties.
