Ah, well, perhaps the problem is that you have those kids foisted on you
rather than it being on your own accord or choice...  

Other people's kids are more likely to do chores for you... and think
that they are having a ball!   Other people's kids haven't figured out
yet how to manipulate you (unless they're always around...)  And so
forth...  ;)
