LOL!  Actually, there are some good actors in them (at times).  And 
many a star has gotten their first role on a soap.  Some, like 
Susam Lucci, are stuck there forever.

See above!  Susan Lucci started her character as a teenager.  She's 
now one of the matriarchs.
