I started with Binkley on an Atari STe (no HDD everything was loaded on RAM
drive from a floppy) and a 2400bps w/o MNP Hyundai modem.
After almost a year of mocking from the other Fido members I strayed and
purchased a 386DX/40 with 200Mb HDD. Needless to say that the HDD was faster
the the RAM drive. I used FD Multiline paid version (smuggled some Deutsch
Marks in envelope to someone in Austria if I recall correctly).
 
 
Now I think we all owe Nick a case of Belgian beers...:)
 
Next time in Europe Nick give us a heads up
