We have traded emails on this so I'm not sure why its being posted here; it 
seems to work perfectly fine on Windows 10.

I have tested with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC builds 1607 and 1809.

The problems you are having with Error 204 and "Unable to write" are very 
likely to do with something else related to Windows and most likely either a
corrupt NTVDM subsystem or anti-virus software or something wrong with the
file system.
