A group of men in have been found guilty of killing a 10-year-old girl in
a hail of bullets in connection with what officials said was a social
   media feud.

Federal prosecutors in Washington D.C. announced the convictions of the
defendants on June 13 — Isaiah Murchison, 23, Darrise Jeffers, 23, Gregory
Taylor, 27, Qujuan Thomas, 24, Quentin Michals, 25, and Marquell Cobbs,
   21.

According to prosecutors, on July 16, 2018, four men got out of a vehicle
at the Clay Terrace apartment complex in D.C. and opened fire in a
courtyard, shooting over 50 bullets at residents “because of a petty
social media feud they had with individuals who associated with that
community,” U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves said.

Graves added that the rampage resulted in multiple people shot and 10-year
old Makiyah Wilson dead. The little girl was sitting on her front stoop
   when the shooting occurred.

Cobbs was found guilty of conspiracy to commit a crime of violence. The
other five co-defendants were found guilty of first-degree murder while
armed, conspiracy to commit a crime of violence, participation in a
criminal street gang, and multiple counts of assault with intent to kill
   while armed.

Prosecutors said all six were members of the “Wellington Park crew.”

The men are scheduled to be sentenced in October.

“This investigation was the result of great detective work by our homicide
detectives, who worked tirelessly to track down evidence, follow up on
leads and tips from the community, along with our federal law enforcement
partnerships,” Metropolitan Police Department Chief Ashan Benedict said.

He added: “It was because of hard work between the Metropolitan Police
Department, our law enforcement partners and most importantly the
   community.”
