XPost: alt.politics.democrats, alt.politics.trump, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       XPost: talk.politics.guns, sac.politics       From: yourdime@outlook.com              Hunter Biden's license to practice law in Washington, D.C., was suspended       Tuesday, two weeks after the first son was convicted of felony gun       charges.              The District of Columbia Court of Appeals issued the decision, stating in       a two-page order that Biden was "suspended immediately" from practicing       law in Washington because he had committed "serious crimes" as defined by       D.C. Bar rules.              The suspension is temporary, and a panel known as the Board on       Professional Responsibility will review the matter further to consider       whether to recommend to the appellate court that it permanently disbar       Biden, according to a letter published alongside the order.              James Phalen, an attorney on the board, wrote in the letter addressed to       Biden that he could submit his position on his disbarment to the board by       Aug. 2, 2024, meaning the board would not make any recommendations to the       appellate court until after that date.              Phalen noted that the board's task will be to consider whether Biden's       crimes "involve moral turpitude."              A jury in Delaware found Biden guilty on June 11 of three felonies related       to his purchase of a revolver in 2018. The charges included Biden lying on       a federal form about his addiction to crack cocaine to purchase the gun       and then unlawfully retaining the firearm for several days while he was a       drug addict.              The charges carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and fines, but       sentencing guidelines suggest the first son could face up to several       months in prison.              A judge indicated his sentencing could take place in a few months, and       Biden is, in the meantime, in the process of fighting his conviction.              On Tuesday, his defense team filed a long-shot request for a new gun trial       based on a technicality regarding appellate court responses he received       before his trial took place. He may also appeal the conviction.              Biden's lead defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, indicated the first son might       file an appeal, saying after the verdict was handed down that his defense       team would "continue to vigorously pursue all the legal challenges       available."              CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER              Lowell did not respond to a request for comment regarding his client's law       license suspension.              Biden was admitted to practice law in Washington in 2007, according to       public records. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1996.              https://gazette.com/news/wex/hunter-biden-dc-law-license-suspended-after-       guilty-verdict/article_7c25d8e6-3333-5b02-a66c-86ad8c4d8a2d.html#tncms-       source=infinity-scroll-summary-siderail-next              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
