Their determination to throw a       hissy fit every time Trump does something is unwavering.              Andrew Solender       @AndrewSolender       ·       Follow       NEW: Rep. Jamie Raskin tells @Axios he will introduce a measure later       this week to end the emergency Trump has declared under the Home Rule       Act in order to federalize the D.C. Metropolitan Police.              Has to wait until a 48-hour window is up.       https://axios.com/2025/08/11/trump-dc-police-national-guard-democrats-rea       ction              https://pbs.twimg.com/card_img/1954941947891548166/2wPJBL-e?format=jpg&na       me=360x360              https://axios.com/2025/08/11/trump-dc-police-national-guard-democrats-rea       ction              "Shocking stuff, even for Trump": D.C.-area Democrats rage at White       House policing move "It's ridiculous, it really is," said one House       Democrat from the Maryland suburbs.              No matter how common-sensical a proposal, how much it is grounded in the       Constitution, or how popular the policy, Democrats will loudly protest       and cry "fascism" and "Nazi!" when Trump speaks.              Trump could mention the importance of breating clean air for good health       and Democrats would pick up smoking to spite him.              The latest round of insanity came on Monday, when President Trump       announced that he was federalizing the police force in Washington, D.C.       and mobilizing the National Guard to clean up the streets of the       District.              Washington, you see, is one of the most dangerous cities in America--in       the same basic category as Chicago, New Orleans, and Saint Louis. Its       murder rates exceed those of Bogota and Mexico City--both famously       dangerous cities.              The city, which famously puts "Taxation Without Representation" on its       license plates, wants to be a state. If it were, it would be the most       dangerous in the country.              The magnitude of the violent crime crisis places the District of       Columbia among the most violent jurisdictions in the United States. In       2024, the District of Columbia averaged one of the highest robbery and       murder rates of large cities nationwide. Indeed, the District of       Columbia now has a higher violent crime, murder, and robbery rate than       all 50 States, recording a homicide rate in 2024 of 27.54 per 100,000       residents. It also experienced the Nation’s highest vehicle theft rate       with 842.4 thefts per 100,000 residents — over three times the national       average of 250.2 thefts per 100,000 residents. The District of Columbia       is, by some measures, among the top 20 percent of the most dangerous       cities in the world.              As President, I have a solemn duty to take care that our laws are       faithfully executed, and a sacred responsibility to protect the safety       and security of United States citizens who live in and visit our       Nation’s capital, including Federal workers who live or commute into the       District of Columbia. These conditions cannot persist. We will make       the District of Columbia one of the safest cities in the world, not the       most dangerous.              We all know the story of "Big Balls," who was assaulted by 10 teens who       tried to carjack him and his date. He defended her, suffering serious       injuries in the process. But his was just another in a series of such       attacks.              Liberals are screaming that D.C. is not as bad as it was in 2023, which       is true. But that is like saying that Kamala Harris was a better       presidential candidate than Joe Biden--in other words, so what? 2025's       D.C. may not be prowled by Snake Plissken combing the city for the       president, but if your capital city is less safe than Bogota, you have a       problem.              Not to mention the fact that DC is cooking the books to make things look       better than they are. As usual, you cannot trust what the Pravda Media       and the Establishment say.              One thing the establishmentarians ARE saying is that they don't care       what happens to people, as long as those people aren't themselves.
