LL> On MSNBC, Chris Matthews made a statement that no
LL> Republicans were invited. Michael Steel then corrected
LL> him, explaining how the organizers of the event ran the
LL> show. Steel's explanation was, in effect, the same as what
 LL> you wrote.

Scott notified the organizers ahead of time he would not be
 there.

LL> Because no Republicans spoke at the event, it gave the
LL> appearance that Republicans do not care about black folks,
LL> or about MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. Of course,
LL> appearances can be deceiving, as it is silly to think that
 LL> all/many/most Republicans are racist.

Strom Thurmond had a black daughter he saw to it was well taken
care of, George Wallace said it was all politics, yet Thurmond
was surely a racist and Wallace played one so well it looks like
 he really was.

 ...

BM>> between the elite and the serfs. They speak of the Dems creating the
rift
BM>> but if you look at the entire picture, the reason most people think this
BM>> icountry s turning towards socialism/communism is very simply explained,
BM>> AKorporate merika wants it that way.

LL> I was using affirmative action as an example. For a deeper
LL> understanding of how corporations interact among national
LL> security and social welfare policy, you might want to read
LL> "Thinking Through the Cold War", by David Jardin, free
 LL> download from smashwords.com

 Nah... I don't really.

 ...

BM>> happened many years ago. When the Irish immigrated here they were
BM>> considered a lower species than the blacks. Every race (and yes,
BM>> nationality is considered a race, not just color) has had that issue.

As the signs said, no colored or Irish need apply.

LL> Sure. Discrimination exists among all races, both within
LL> and between. Andrew Young once said, "We are all racists
LL> and bigots." I tend to agree with that view, with the
LL> caveat it is what we do (as individuals and a people) to
LL> overcome that racism and bigotry that is important. That
LL> was Andrew Young's real message, or what he was trying to
 LL> convey to others.

 Sounds about right.

 ...

BM>>> LOL.... irony as it's best... vote for the man who doesn't give a
 BM>>> rat's ass about you.

LL>>> You have to remember - we boil our crawfish LIVE. :)

BM>>When is Jindal on the menu?

 He's on the republican's menu.

LL> In the latest poll, Les Miles and Nick Saban are rated
LL> higher than Bobby Jindal. Les Miles I can understand. But
LL> Nick Saban is hated in these parts, pretty much on the same
LL> level as the devil himself. Jindal should consider himself
LL> blessed that he cannot run for a third consecutive term for
 LL> governor. :)

To lose to someone hated so much would be bad. OTOH, you said
Saban is hated on the same level as the devil. Since we are
talking about republicans, isn't that a high rating?
