  A couple of friends of mine (this lady and her significant other)
have a "spoiled rotten dachshund" (par for the course ...he thinks
I'm his uncle, and he's my nephew ).
 
  Anyway, the doxie is at least 11 years old, and they have a bit of
a problem. While he will bark at the door of their apartment to go
outside to do his business (he will do it on underpads in the shower
of their apartment, if the weather is bad)...but the problem is for
him to bark at the door when he's done to be let back in.
 
  He basically was trained for his "Momma" or "Dad" to be out there
with him (he prefers exploring without a leash)...but when he's done,
he just stands there, waiting for his "Momma" or "Dad" to let him in;
thinking they're still outside...but sometimes, they've had to go back
into the apartment, before "he's done".
 
  They and I are puzzled on how to solve this problem. Is there anything
that can be done on this??
