i can't say they're my favorite but i currently have the beta of Jupiter Hell
which is derived from Doom... i sponsered them on their kickstarter... getting
JH required that i install steam which lead me to pull in a couple of other
free games... one of those is a fishing game called Fishing Planet... you work
your way up to other fishing areas by catching fish and increasing your
points... Jupiter Hell is a top down 3D rogue/nethack like game... just like
doom, you explore and kill enemies as you work your way through the moons of
jupiter...
