publication catering to the English-speaking expatriate community in Moscow,
it transitioned to an online-only format in 2017. In 2022, in response to
increasing censorship laws following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the

agent" by Russian authorities in 2023 and declared an "undesirable
organization" in 2024, The Moscow Times continues to operate from abroad. It
maintains a Russian-language service and remains one of the few independent

including founder Derk Sauer, is committed to providing independent journalism
