|  Verses - As a Thief in the Night?  |
|  19 Jan 12 19:39:12  |
Thinking on these: Rembering the parable of the servants given a talent and the master goes away, and when he returns he inquires what they did with the talent... I was hungry and you gave me to eat... I believe the warning is that Jesus will come like a thief in the night, secretly, but the penalty for not being watchful will not be for not watching your property, but not being watchful over your duties. Not having kept to what you knew you were supposed to do, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirst, etc. And all this "End times" concern is misplaced. Praying harder and supporting Israel to bring on the second coming are acts of pride, not devotion. Feeding the hungry and careing for the sick etc are what we need to focus on. JS> "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the JS> angels of heaven, but my Father only . . . Watch therefore: JS> for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know JS> this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what JS> watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and JS> would not have suffered his house to be broken up . . . The JS> lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh JS> not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of," JS> Matthew 24:36, 42-43, 50, KJV JS> "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour JS> wherein the Son of man cometh."
