Colleagues:
This was sent by k1all to the intercon ncs list, am brieflyy summarizing here
from that alert. It states;
Continuing until approximately 07 June 2012, the National Geospatial
Intelligence Agency (NGA) has promulgated a NAVAREA warning regarding
the possibility for heightened levels of solar flare activity. Associated
with this solar activity is the potential for disruptions of electronic
navigation, high and low frequency radio transmissions, and other electronic
communications methods. As such, solar activity has the potential to
negatively impact mariners ability to navigate safely and communicate
effectively while underway. It is therefore recommended that mariners not
solely rely on electronic means for safe navigation and should
consider ALL alternate means to verify their position. Please see the
below message excerpt from the NGA.
