This was sent earlier and some say they didn’t =
get this email=A0 So I copied it here.
This is from =
Debbie:
Dear Family,
Betsy =
(Mama’s caregiver) and I took her to see Dr Ofomata yesterday. She =
is still feeling sad and down.
He =
stated that a Urinary Tract Infection in an elderly person can effect =
the brain and can cause these symptoms. It can take a really long time =
for her brain to get over it.
He wants her to have a follow up urine analysis with =
DR T since she has finished the antibiotic.
She had a =
rough weekend. No one came to visit her on Saturday and she started =
getting really upset. She had to be given an extra Lorazapam. She slept =
good Sat night.
She had visitors on =
Sunday, but she started crying then because no one came on Saturday. She =
had to have another Lorazapam on Sunday as well, bust didn’t sleep =
well Sunday night. She felt like the extra medication was too much. =
He also felt the Melazacam that she is taking for her =
knee pain may be making her constipated.
He is also =
very concerned about her taking so many additional supplements that some =
may be counteracting her prescriptions. We faxed him a list of her =
supplements and other meds. He is going to review the list as and see =
what can be taken off.
So here are =
the results from the DR visit:
- Schedule follow up =
with Dt T for urine analysis and have results sent to Dr. Ofomata. =
- Add in another =BD =
tablet of Lorazapam at noon daily. Keep the =BD pill in the am and =BD =
pill in the evening. These will need to be added to the pill box in the =
noon slots.
- Give Melazacam once a =
day only if the pain is unbearable as needed. Betsy or Martin will =
give it to her once daily as needed. These will be kept in the drawer =
where the pill box is but not included in the weekly slots. =
- After reviewing the =
supplements, Dr. Ofomata may remove some of them. (Yeah!) He will let us =
know what to stop.
I told Mama that if the Dr. said to stop any =
of the supplements, she would have to listen and stop. She said ok. We =
as a family may have to get firm and not give in to her. =
Because Mama gets sad and afraid on Saturdays when =
Betsy is not there, we as a family need to try to arrange for someone to =
visit her on Saturdays as well as her Sunday “medicine =
Family”.
I know we are all =
busy, and putting one more thing on our plates is hard. =
Maybe the grandkids could help out =
here as well? I know that several of you have gone to see her and she =
loves it, especially if she gets to see any of the =
kids.
We also don’t want too =
many at once. We need to spread out the visitors.
Is anyone willing to volunteer to go see her on =
Saturdays around 10:00am?
She asked =
that visitors come around 10:00, because that is when she starts feeling =
sad. However, if she knows that someone may be coming later than 10:00, =
she will probably be ok. Staying just a couple of hours should benefit =
her greatly.
Please respond to this =
email and let me know if you are willing to come see her on a certain =
Saturday and what time. I’ll try to put together a schedule. Thank =
you all for your love and support to try to help her through all of =
this.
