Damn near all vegetables are fine in a microwave. Some sort of tupperware
container (dollar tree probably sells them) that seals but can vent steam...
put vegetables in, add a tablespoon or so of water, and two minutes on high...
ta da. Carrots, broccoli, whatever.

Acorn squash... cut in half, scoop out seeds, seal a half with plastic wrap.
Two minutes on high.

Both will be hot as hell coming out of the microwave, especially the acorn
squash.
