I guess it IS working, but due to whatever the kludge lines are shown in
something like black on black ;)
Try to select them with the mouse, and see if something comes up.

Take also a look at your color configuration
especially this:
COLOR READER KLUDGE     DGrey    on Black        ; kludges
try changing it to a more normal color eg
COLOR READER KLUDGE     Red    on Black
