I relate.  There was a piece in this morning's MEmphis
Commercial Appeal.  Probably same source.

OH yeah you can bet there's already people rebadging copies, and there were
lots of copies of the majors.  Had an Electra bass that was a damned nice
Fender precision knockoff back
in the '80's.
