In large enough communities, clubs without politics do exist. But they're not
advertised and either invite-only or require sponsorship to attend and
eventually join.

But even in clubs with politics, it's relatively easy to overthrow the
leaders. The problem is that you still have a bunch of people who are adverse
to change and/or adverse to doing anything with purpose... Meetings are mostly
social gatherings these days.
