Note: This info was updated on Aug. 28, 2025.

You can find yours truly, Daryl Stout, N5VLZ, on this net today. A
list of all the nets that I can be found on during the week is at the
hyperlink on my QRZ bio -- look for the link that notes "Nets Where
N5VLZ is Net Control".

Nets on The QuadNet Array utilize the modes of D-Star, DMR+, WIRES-X,
and Fusion, together on one site. Go to openquad.net for more details,
and connection options. Note that the QuadNet Array no longer offers
connections via Echolink, or Brandmeister via DMR.

Nets on The Sunflower Network utilize the modes of AllStar, D-Star, DMR,
Echolink, Fusion, M17, P25, and TGIF. For more details and connection
options, go to www.sunflowernet.us

With multiple modes on each of these, it's best to have several ways
to connect, in case one or more of these modes is down at net time.

Times are noted in local US time, and in UTC (when the US is on Standard
Time). Take note of the following caveats in regards to net times:

1) In the US, Standard Time is from the first Sunday in November, to the
2nd Sunday in March...with Daylight Savings Time the rest of the year.

2) UTC Time (noted when the US is on Standard Time) is ONE HOUR EARLIER
when the US is on Daylight Savings Time, as noted above.

3) Arizona, Hawaii, and the US territories are on Standard Time year
round. In this case, during Daylight Savings Time, their net times are
ONE HOUR EARLIER.

4) Confirm the net times with Net Control if you have questions.

5) Last minute changes and cancellations can occur at any time.

Net Name: PCL Packet Net
Meets On: NS2B BBS, Penfield, New York
Net Control: Bob Smith, NS2B
Alternate Net Control/Scribe: Daryl Stout, N5VLZ

UTC Net Time: 0100 UTC Tuesday during US Standard Time, 0000 UTC Tuesday
the rest of the year.
US Net Time: 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain, 5pm Pacific

Comments: The PCL Net, which stands for "Patience And Chicken Lips",
originally began on the N0KFQ BBS in Branson, Missouri in the early
1980's. Run by Sysop K.O. Higgs, N0KFQ, with his wife, Billie, KB0WSA,
as Net Control, it was a full featured packet BBS, with RF and telnet
access. After Billie's death a few years ago (K.O. died 2 years after
she did), Bob, NS2B, moved the Net to his system, in Penfield, New York.

The main requirement to checkin is being a licensed amateur radio operator,
with privileges to transmit on packet, either RF or Telnet; but With poor
RF conditions, it's better to connect via telnet.

The net is in a roundtable format, with everyone typing data at their
keyboard. Further details on the net are in the file PCL_NET.PDF --
which is available at they hyperlink off of my QRZ bio. You will need
an appropriate PDF viewer to view/print the file.

For early checkins to the PCL Net (you can't make it), please email:

1) Bob Smith, NS2B, at ns2b@arrl.net OR ns2b@winlink.org
2) Daryl Stout, N5VLZ, at n5vlz@arrl.net OR n5vlz@winlink.org

  You'll be granted a courtesy/early checkin.

Note that the net does NOT meet on the Mondays of weeks when these USA
holidays occur: Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

Net Name: The Pun In Life Net
Meets On: Go to openquad.net for connection options.
Net Control: Daryl Stout, N5VLZ

UTC Net Time: 0300 UTC Tuesday during US Standard Time, 0200 UTC Tuesday
the rest of the year.
US Net Time: 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 7pm Pacific

Comments: The beauty of the pun is in the groan of the recipient (the main
QRM on the net), and the only requirement is that there be no vulgar or
obscene language in the puns. It's designed to be a pun in a million
experience.

Methods to checkin are as follows:

1) On the QuadNet Array, via D-Star, DMR+, TGIF, WIRES-X, or Fusion.
Go to openquad.net for connection options.

2) Via the IM Utility with Netlogger (netlogger.org). Those stations that
connect then drop are noted as NO RESPONSE.

3) Via email to n5vlz@arrl.net or vhfnetmanager@qcwa.org

4) Via The Pun In Life Net Group On Facebook.

5) Via APRS with a quick note to N5VLZ-10.

6) Via Ham.Live

Checkin methods 3-5 are automatically noted as "short time".

Note that like the PCL Net, this net will NOT meet on the Mondays of weeks
when these USA holidays occur: Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
