I'm John Gonzales and run CrNet BBS JG> (bbs.crnet.net:1023). I started years ago 1990 to be exact with Wildcat JG> in Miami Beach FL (The Wild West BBS). Been playing with it on and off JG> over the years and have been enjoying it. I didn't get started in BBSing until after my late father's job moved us from the Hialeah area (northwest of Miami) to Little Rock, Arkansas in the summer of 1977. But, I didn't heart about BBS's until the mid 1980's, with a BBS on the local college campus, along with several other BBS's. I was logging on with a Radio Shack Model 100 laptop at 1200 baud...and on that BBS (run by the local college...the BBS is gone, but the college is still there), was where I met the woman that I'd marry on May 18, 2003...20 years ago today. Sadly, she passed away from a heart attack 3 weeks shy of our 4th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2007. We were "Married With Modem Sysops" (my BBS was dial-up from 1990 (run on that Model 100 laptop), until The Thunderbolt BBS came online in May, 1992 (it turned 31 earlier this month). I now run the BBS in my late wife's memory. She was a fierce competitor in the doorgames...a great winner but a sore loser. |
