I see that you are connected, but you may wish to do an areafix of %RESCAN * to get messages from the past. I am hoping that HobbyNet flourishes. Member posts are very helpful. I started HobbyNet back when my free one-year subscription ran out. I was on a 286 with a slow modem on a DOS system, but I purchased 3 56k modems for a total of 4 possible connections, all done via modem. I ran a script where one of my modems constantly connected to my ISP's T-1 connection. This way, my local callers had access to the internet. Slow as it was, I was their ISP. I had roughly 15 or so systems that connected to HobbyNet, all via modem. I lived in Fort Lauderdale, and had downlinks in 2 counties. I convinced a local barber shop owner near Fort Lauderdale beach to have my BBS running in the shop while it was open. That way, cruise ship employees stopping in Ft Lauderdale could use his computer to surf the web while they were in town. I had many ideas like creating a HobbyNet Discount Card which I charged $25 per year for any of my users that wanted a discount from any of my business owners that also paid me $25 per year to advertise on the BBS. The HobbyNet had 1 conference area named 'Business Advertisers' where businesses could post an ad. Because it was networked, their ad reach 3 counties. You asked for ways to celebrate BBS Day, this is how I did it in the past. Mike Dippel --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v7.0 * Origin: The Hobby Line!
