Title: Winston Churchill's Favourite Fruit Cake

Yield: 12 Servings
10 oz Plain flour
8 oz Butter
6 oz Sugar
5 lg Eggs
10 oz Mixed dried fruit
4 oz Glace' cherries; cut in half
1/2 ts Baking powder
pn Salt
Cream the butter and sugar together.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, adding a little flour to
prevent the mixture curdling.
Sift the remainder of the flour with the baking powder
and salt and add this to the creamed mixture.
Add the dried fruit and beat the mixture well.
Spoon into a greased and lined round cake tin.
Bake for 2 hours in a moderate (350oF/175oC) oven.
