SP> I know that some of the sysops would like to receive incoming SP> connections on the phone so that hotdoged can action as a node. as a sysop of a bbs i would say no. a scheduled call to the bbs for the lasted fidomails is a must-have-feature today. if hotdoged checks all XX minutes for new messages is this what i need as a point and as a sysop of a bbs-system. SP> SP> It's not a big deal to implement this with some restrictions: no points SP> and downlinks, only one uplink. if it is no big-deal i would say: make your feature list bigger and disable it by default. SP> SP> Does anyone really needs this? I've heard this feature will be in the SP> next version of AfterShock, yet it is a secret and I didn't tell you SP> anything :) SP> it is an open source secret :D but things thats rudi wrotes in a answer-mail of this mail from you sergey are right. some people out there running whole bbs-systems on a rasberry pi. and if your hotdoged can handel in future more than one uplink some people can plug in there old android tablets to powerline and let it run 24/7 for much lesser powerconsum than a PC or anything else. And if i imagine to the next step my mind was comming up to things like: HDSPA/GPRS/LTE Android FidoNetNodes... they are reachable if fixnet-telephone/internet lines goes down and powersupply is down as well. and as a sysop of a bbs system i must say: yes this option to keep alive my fidonode if my bbs is down (power/internet) i want it! :) but dont leave the focus to make hotdoged with ftn to an easy app for the fido access ;) (:.
