origin lines are "OK" in netmails... they are not normally seen there but
their existence does not hamper or change netmail into something else...

tearlines are not mandatory... their presence does, though, indicate that
visible text (vs control lines) following may be ignored (for the most part)
and may be "torn off and thrown away" for presentation to or quoting by the
user...

NOTE: tearlines are three dashes followed by a space starting on the far left
column (0 or 1 depending on how you count columns)... they may be followed by
some text...

yes, i know you are aware of the above but i just wanted to clarify it...
there are some packages in FTNs that see any set of three dashes as a tearline
no matter where they may fall in the text and they do not consider the
trailing space...
