Agree. And now consider email only node (EON). No need to have an smtp server on the phone, it can be anywhere receiving incoming connections. And on the phone you can then use whatever protocol you want. Just check your mailbox via pop3/web/whatever to see if there are some packets. In practice I only received a pkt one a year - my NC checked if the node is alive :) BTW this would be cool to use pop3 in hotdoged to receive pkts from mail server. This could really let you have a fidonet node on the phone without battery draining binkp server always waiting for incoming connections. Or not always, but during mailing hours. -- Best regards!
