At about 2 years into my ownership of a bookshop, I got an email requesting a quote for a pile of books. It appeared to be a school order. Nothing entirely unusual about that, 'cuz I would get request for quotes or special orders from email all the time. After completing the detailed work to build the list with prices and the grand total, there was a switcheroo. I was requested to send the merchandise to an African/European foreign country (can't remember which), whilst the payment would be completed from the USA. And.. their expectation was that it would be a credit card transaction. Sheeesh, I thought. I simply wrote back to suggest "simply use Amazon at the country of delivery" ..and that I primary support my local community, and since the value of the books ran into 4-figures, I would only accept a cashier's cheque. I never got anything similar like that again. However... there is a never ending stream of new businesses and gullible people. ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.45 * Origin: (2:221/1.58) SEEN-BY: 1/123 90/1 120/340 601 123/131 226/30 227/114 702 229/101 SEEN-BY: 229/275 424 426 452 664 1014 240/5832 249/206 317 400 292/854 SEEN-BY: 317/3 322/757 342/200 PATH: 221/1 280/464 229/101 426 |
