Reminds me of a few years back when I received a couple of "domain renewal
notices" in the mail.

Turns out it was a bait-and-switch domain reseller that was harvesting whois
data and mailing out "renewal" forms.  Whether they transfer your domain to
them or just take the money & run, I don't know.
