Hello Aaron!

Yes.. having *something* live to hear when in a dead-zone is
good. I haven't tested the battery life when using radio.

The PGP that I was referring to is for encypted email.

For encrypted voice comms, I've heard that Signal is a good
choice. Telegram also boasts secure calls:

What model of the BB was it? I'm curious. If it only supported
either 2G or HSPA+ max, then it is not worth it - even the range
for phone calls will be less than what you can get with LTE.

Even my BB's LTE may not be all that it seems, according to this
article:

 https://www.ianswerguy.com/what-is-3g-4g-lte/

..and I can believe it. The best I am getting right now is
barely 2.7Mbps. That's just in the low 3G range! ..and the
phone is telling me it is connected with LTE. But it is much
better than the HSPA+ that I was getting with a previous USB
dongle for mobile.
