you have to unsubscribe the area and then rejoin it to reset your news
reader's pointers for that area...

that's the big difference between BBSes' message areas and news servers'
message areas... on BBSes, the message pointers are kept on the BBS... on news
servers, the message pointers are the responsibility of the users' news
readers...
