If you want to experiment, you can get a similar result if you set WRAP_WIDTH
to 997. Only paragraphs longer than that will be wrapped.

It works (in fact, other NNTP servers do that), but there are issues with some
newsreaders, e.g. Thunderbird. A quoted paragraph is not wrapped, so it
becomes a long line prefixed by just one ">". This doesn't work well with all
FTN/BBS software. (See my "long line test" thread in FIDOTEST.)
