Yes fine when you have those options, I did not have any tabs that wee 
not 'greyed out' and GpartEd kept telling me there was no '/' partition 
when I had one selected. Just no go!  Anyway deleting the partitions 
(P/magic) got it going

Well thats easy, I have a spare external drive for my laptop.  I think 
an installed system allows a much more flexible and faster setup, 
updates and additional programs etc, all my info stored is on the HDD. 
If I want to boot Linux I just plug the USB in and it should boot first. 
Well, thats the theory if I ever get it working.  ( I chose that route 
as I have been constantly modifying and editing the Bootloader on my 
Desk PC and still it won't boot on the default)
Good luck with your Wifi, that's my next project if I ever get that far.
