This and many of the other errors suggest that you're missing the
various X -dev packages. Try installing xlibs-dev. (Or you may need to
individually install libx11-dev, libxext-dev, and assorted other
libx*-dev packages instead. I'm not sure if Ubuntu will provide the
xlibs-dev package.)
