6.06 - Stable with Long Term Support. Only gives you "tried and tested"
progs in it's repositories. For instance, Firefox is at v 1.5. There are
numerous other instances.
6.10 - Stable. Gives you a number of updated software packages. For
Instance. Firefox is at v 2.0.1
Or alternatively...
7.04 - Testing. Gives you the latest software, bugs and all - if any.
Firefox is at v 2.02
