There will be stuff in the syslogs relating to attempted connections which
can be useful.

In the meantime, do you want to try this from the command line and
see what the results are?

(replace xxxx with your device name, natch.)

sudo iwconfig xxxx essid "The Relevant SSID"
sudo iwconfig xxxx enc "s:your_wep_encrypyion_key"
sudo dhclient xxxx
