I just wanted to install the NVidia drivers.

This works:
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-386 root=/dev/hda6 ro vga=0x0307

These do not work:
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-11-generic root=/dev/hda6 ro vga=0x0307
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-11-generic root=/dev/hda6 ro

Perhaps this will help someone.
Or if someone could tell why that is so ?
