I have just installed Ubuntu 6.06 CD version on and old 5ooMHz PC and 
the old Belkin F5D6050 USB 802.11b adapter worked straight after the 
installation.   DHCP did not pick up so I entered a fixed  IP, Gateway, 
and WEP and hey presto! Wasn't I lucky! Not had the same luck with a 
Labtec webcam though :^(
