I've never used EasyTag, not even sure what it is supposed to do...

How about doing the same in the directory with the .ogg files? What I am
looking for is the file ownership and permissions of those files after you
copy them from the CD to the hard drive.

No smiley needed, but it would have been a prime opportunity for you to
dive into Linux head first and learn a whole bunch about how X works in
the process. It was probably a simple matter of the X config files, which
would have helped you to see how it looks under the hood, with nothing to
lose...
