Look into xinerama, I have two monitors, not TV out, but xinerama extends
the x session to both screens as opposed to having one session on each, so
you can just drag windows over there. My ServerLayout section of my
xorg.conf looks like this:
Section "ServerLayout"
#option "Clone" "off"
# InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
# InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents"
# InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Default Screen" 0 0
Screen 1 "screen1" RightOf "Default Screen"
InputDevice "Generic Keyboard"
InputDevice "Configured Mouse"
Option "Xinerama" "on"
EndSection
