Have a look at:

man ntpdate

Figure out what commandline options you want to use by trying them out
on the commandline. When you have it twearked just the way you like:

$ sudo crontab -e

Will open roots crontab in vi

'i' begins insert mode.
On a new blank line
* * * * * /usr/sbin/ntpdate

hit ESC to enter command mode

SHIFT zz to save and exit.

The asterix represent Minutes, Hours, Day of Month, Month, Day of Week.
The above runs the task once a minute.

man cron

for more.

In general, if you think something isn't in Perl, try it out, because it
usually is.  :-)
