That's easy enough to read.

That is too technical -- better to use/read what I gave earlier at the
main Mint page and then the 2 release notes in
news:45d22602$0$97215$892e7fe2@authen.yellow.readfreenews.net

Not exactly. I just see what I'm reading about. I don't have linux
experience, I have more reading background than using background.
Anything I've been saying in this thread is based on what I'm reading,
not what I'm using, as I said at the beginning.

I've read about Mint, I've read other people saying Mint is much like
Automatix2, especially in the Ub forums where Mint is discussed, but
that's not what I 'see' at various lists of what they do.

I would say Automatix2 for some value of 'most'. But Mint would look
more different.

> Which is the safer to use?

I would say Mint on the basis of the links I gave earlier where
customizations are discussed in the Ub wiki.

> How easy is it to do manually what they do to Ubuntu?

Easy enough. The way I got the multimedia codecs was by using Easy
Ubuntu.

> In simple terms, what are the aims of Automatix2 and Mint?

I gave a link to what Mint has to say about that at the mint site and
what automatix has to say about that at the automatix2 site, you should
go read there instead of having me tell you what someone else is saying.
The vanilla Ub install is 'too nonproprietary' for the taste of many.

> Who should go for which?

At the time I decided to use Easy Ubuntu, I decided on that instead of
Automatix2, but that was before I knew about Mint. Now I'm interested
in Mint, but I don't have any experience with it or Automatix2.

> (Your links give a sophisticated answer but one I don't understand.)

I would rather you work on reading some of what I've given links to than
me try to explain it 'better' than the developers and users explain it
to each other.
