Just an idea:  Do you have the printer drivers installed on your XP
computer?  When you are in the print dialog for whatever you want to
print, if you go into Properties:Advanced, have you chosen to print
two-sided?  

My thought here is that XP may be telling the printer to print
single-sided even though it is enabled for duplexing.
