I have tried both, and instead settled on Amarok. Amarok is a super-slick
piece of software. It makes managing my massive music collection simple (we
have over 15,000 songs currently, and that increases by 90 every month
thanks to eMusic. [grin]), and Amarok's iPod integration is amazing. gtkPod
and Yamipod both felt like hacks; Amarok feels completely organic.
Amarok's podcast support also helps make it my hands-on favorite. Set up
podcasts, set the properties so Amarok automatically downloads them and
automatically adds them to the Media Player (iPod) queue. Come home from
work, pop the iPod into the dock. The next morning, hit the "Transfer"
button in Amarok, wait a couple of minutes, hit the "Disconnect" button and
voila! Another days worth of podcasts loaded and ready to go.
Yeah, I'm just kinda babbling now. I'll shut up. :)
