Me on my soapbox? It appears you are the one who somewhat stupidly asked
if he had asked "everyone". Of course he hadn't asked "everyone". Hence
"artistic license" or shall we say "common sense"?

Because it is ludicrous that you would defend this
terminology. Absolutely 100%.

You are twisting this. The argument is whether "burn" makes sense for
that command.
"Burn ISO Image" implies burning to a cd/dvd. Live with it. It does not
make ANY sense when writing a hard disk. None whatsoever.
And, I also maintain that a great majority people refer to "burning" even
when writing to a rewritable cd/dvd - because the process does indeed
"burn".
