Decided to switch to a bare bones server install with gnome-core
installed ... I was bored. Next, needed a desktop launcher
(to satisfy my laziness) so I could single click and have slrn
running. This is what I did:
1) made a script from what I found on the Net and modified to suit:
#!/bin/bash
xterm -title "slrn" -fn
"-*-courier-medium-r-normal-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" -geometry
109x45+0+0 -e slrn -h localhost
2) made the luncher to call the script.
O.K., so it works - with a caveat:
have two xterm running - the parent xterm and child for slrn which is
on top of the "parent".
Now here is the point of my post:
anyone know a way to have the launcher, and a single visible xterm
(with slrn) running instead of the hack I have?
