Speaking of dd power - I used to have in the past script to migrate VPS (eh,
ok, they gave VPS for one month for free and I wanted to save money) - I
migrated VPS every 4 weeks.

Beside booting to rescue on both (and some fstab fix), main command was:

xfsdump -l0 - / | gzip -c | ssh root@new_ip "gunzip -c | xfsrestore - /"

Local network speed within one host was amazing ;-)
