telnet works okay and runs beautifully on the linux terminal along with
framebuffered mplayer playing a full screen 4K mp4, all without requiring a
gui.  BUT if using a gui then "mplayer -vo vdpau -fs 16penguins.mp4" is
something to write home to mother about.
