Has anyone had any experience getting UUCP to work in Debian?

I've been playing around with it, and I *think* I've gotten one machine to
authenticate and connect, but after login, nothing happens.  UUCP seems to hang
after sending username and password.

I can post details, but if no one here us familiar, then probably not worth
asking.

This is UUCP over TCP on a LAN.
