I took the liberty of downloading pentoo-full-amd64-hardened-202
.0_p20250913.iso, dd'ed it to a usb flash drive, and then booted it.  It
worked perfectly and unlike other live systems it came with gcc-14.3.0 and
friends which makes it excellent for installing LFS to a nvme disk, which is
what I have planned for later this week.

Offhand it looks like a keeper to me.  Thanks for the heads up.
