|    Bug#1124288: Boot and shutdown screens f    |

XPost: linux.debian.bugs.dist       From: mrmazda@earthlink.net              I have Bullseye installations with ATI, Intel and NVidia GPUs. All of them with       5.10.0-37-amd64 exhibit similar behavior, the difference being instead of       copyright characters, they are just black: blanks or nulls or spaces. Ttys 2-6       are       similar to reporter's, except that where a shell prompt should appear, a       blinking       underscore appears, but no visible prompt on otherwise black screens. These are       all legacy BIOS PCs.              Moments ago I did an upgrade and reboot on a UEFI machine exclusive of the       5.10.0-37-amd64 kernel, and this errant behavior was not present with       5.10.0-36-amd64. I then installed 5.10.0-37-amd64, and rebooted to find the       errant       behavior present.              /etc/default/console-setup contains:       CHARMAP="UTF-8"       CODESET="Lat15"       FONTFACE=""       FONTSIZE=""       VIDEOMODE=              https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2025/12/msg00381.html is the OP of the       mailing list thread about this.       --       Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion,        based on faith, not based on science.               Team OS/2 ** Reg.
